Viewmont faced highly ranked Woods Cross (4A #2) in a Davis County preseason game on Tuesday night and came away with their first loss of the season. The Wildcats came out of the gate shooting the very well and knocked down 9 of 11 shots in the first quarter to take an early 19-point lead at the quarter. Viewmont bounced back in the second quarter and whittled the lead down to 8 points, but Trevor Knell knocked down a 25-foot three at the buzzer to take an 11-point lead into halftime. Woods Cross put the game away in the 3rd quarter and led by as many as 18 points before Viewmont made a late push, only to lose 70-59.
Woods Cross was led in scoring by Trevor Knell (32 points). The Vikings were lead by Chandler Cox (13 points), Adam Funk (12 points), and Josh Mordue (11 points).
The loss drops the Vikings record to 1 – 1 on the year.
